Pokemon GO Twitch drops are becoming more frequent and there’s never been a better time to get in-game rewards, but how do you actually sign up for them?
With around 81 million players monthly and new content coming all the time, the eight-year-old Pokemon GO has maintained a large following. That doesn’t mean that Niantic and The Pokemon Company have gotten complacent, however. Official Pokemon GO Twitch streams often cover major tournaments. These tournaments sometimes offer the chance of getting drops to encourage engagement.
For interested players, here’s how to get Pokemon GO Twitch drops and what they have to offer.
How to get and redeem Pokemon GO Twitch drops
Players can get Pokemon GO Twitch drops by linking their accounts and watching streams for a set amount of time.
While linking accounts wasn’t required during the 2023 World Championships Twitch drops, Pokemon GO seems to have backtracked and made it mandatory. This is done through the rewards page on the official Pokemon website.
The steps to unlocking Twitch drops are as follows:
- Visit Pokemon’s Twitch rewards website
- Link the desired Pokemon GO trainer and Twitch accounts
- Watch a “drop-enabled” stream
- Follow the tracker on Twitch to see how much viewing time is needed to unlock a reward
- Reach 100% progress for the drop reward
- Go to “View Inventory” to receive the drop code
- Redeem on Pokemon Go
Though Twitch drop campaigns have been done through unofficial streams for other games, that’s not the case here. These are largely seen on the official Pokemon GO Twitch channel.
As long as they complete the stream before the campaign ends, viewers are allowed to pause and start as needed. The video must be both sound-enabled and maximized to qualify for the drop, but fans can get around this by muting their tab in their browser. Players must claim their Pokemon GO Twitch drops rewards within 24 hours of the campaign ending.
Pokemon GO drops come in the form of a redemption code. These codes are used through the shop menu in the Pokemon GO app.
What Twitch Drops does Pokemon GO get?
Twitch drops allow viewers to digital rewards in Pokemon GO including items and access to exclusive research missions.
Most of these special research missions are attached to major real-life Pokemon tournaments, including the Pokemon World Championship and the various International Championships. Though there will often be broadcasts for regional-level tournaments, these may not offer drops.
If an event is offering Twitch drops, players should be greeted with an alert. Streams may also include a “drops enabled” tag.
