Leak says Lies of P sequel to be more Elden Ring, less Bloodborne

Neowiz and Round8 Studio might be making the Lies of P sequel an open-world game, a move that might make the Bloodborne successor more akin to Elden Ring.

The 2023 Lies of P was a surprise hit, selling 1 million copies within the first month and getting so popular that fans considered it on par with FromSoftware’s games. This is huge praise, seeing as how Lies of P was the Korean developer Neowiz’s first project. The good news for fans is that the game isn’t set to be a one-off release.

Neowiz announced Lies of P DLC, which will introduce other fairy tale characters to join Pinnochio’s Soulslike game. Lies of P director Choi Ji-won also confirmed that a sequel for the game is in the works. Though little has been said about the game since then, information suggests the sequel might move from levels to an open world.

Will the Lies of P sequel be open-world?

A job listing on Neowiz’s website suggests the Lies of P sequel may be an open-world game.

The job listing on the official Neowiz website states that the company is looking for a field-level designer for the Lies of P sequel. While the listing is in Korean, the translation shows that the job listing and qualifications are common per the job designation. However, something that stands out is the preferential treatment for applicants with “extensive experience playing open-world level games.” It also seeks applicants with experience in “creating seamless worlds.”

This preference for potential applicants strongly suggests that the Lies of P sequel will contain an open world. It isn’t clear whether the game will bring a complete open world or some elements to make the game have partially open areas. The first Lies of P game wasn’t a sandbox-style game; its story was linear, but players could return to previous areas at will.

This job listing reaffirms that the studio has started work on the Lies of P sequel. Director Choi Ji-won had previously confirmed the development of the sequel but no other news had surfaced. The job listing states that the studio is diligently bringing fans the sequel. The only information available are details on its story from the original game’s ending.

It’s still unclear how far along the game is in development. There’s no estimated release date for the Lies of P DLC, or the upcoming sequel. Regardless, fans can likely expect something markedly different from the original game.
