Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Season 5 update adds two brand-new 6v6 core maps in Bait and Yard, while introducing multiple WWE Superstars as Operator skins.
Sledgehammer Games released a launch trailer for the much-awaited Season 5 of Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, and it reveals a variety of content drops including new weapons, a rehashed battle pass, multiple maps and game modes. The splashiest addition might be the new crop of limited-time skins, but hardcores will be most intrigued by the major gameplay additions. This includes a pair of new maps and a new look for many existing maps.
Modern Warfare 3 bringing Bait and Yard maps, cel-shaded variants
MW3 Season 5 will bring cel-shaded map variants alongside two new core maps in Bait and Yard.
Bait is set on a “sunny dock” in Florida, United States, and offers fans tense and tactical matches. The 6v6 core map will see players alternate between close-quarters combat and long, open lines of sight. Yard is the second 6v6 map, taking players to a junkyard. It’s smaller in size compared to Bait, and features cel-shaded environments.
Both of the maps will be available to play right away as the update releases on live servers across all platforms.
The cel-shaded variant also puts a spin on existing maps. Celship, Toonoxide, and Inkhouse are all cel-shade variant maps arriving in Modern Warfare 3 Season 5. Celship and Toonoxide will be available upon launch, and Ink House will drop through a mid-season update at a later date.
MW3 Season 5 brings crossover game mode, skins for WWE SummerSlam
WWE Superstars Rhea Ripley, Rey Mysterio, and Cody Rhodes will arrive in MW3 to promote the fed’s annual Summerslam event.
A new Slam-Deathmatch game mode puts a spin on the classic Team Deathmatch mode, players need to perform a WWE-style finishing move to score the elimination. The Slam Deathmatch game mode will be available starting July 31.
The massive Season 5 update will also feature several mini-games as fans await the launch of the next installment in the FPS franchise, Call of Duty Black Ops 6.
The STG puts a spin on the beloved assault rifle, a popular weapon in the Call of Duty franchise. STG will be available on launch and can be unlocked by reaching Level 21 on the Season 5 Battle Pass. The Static HV is an SMG to be added to the roster of new weapons, alongside the Spear and Torque 35.
The spear is a throwable melee weapon that can be picked up after being used. The player receives three throwable spears upon spawning. Alongside this, the Torque-35 is a crossbow-like launcher that can pin enemies to walls.
The update also ships a new tactical grenade, an EMP grenade that disrupts enemy sensors, and disorients the opponent’s HUD. EMP Grenade will be available on launch day itself.
Modern Warfare 3 Season 5 is slated to arrive on Wednesday, July 24 at 10 am PT for all platforms. On the other hand, the next installment in the Call of Duty franchise, the controversial Black Ops 6, is scheduled to launch on October 24
