With the web-slinging game now out, fans are wondering if the development of Wolverine has even started. Although no official information has been given, an expected release date for the game might have potentially been leaked by a longtime Marvel leaker.
Alongside the release date leak, there are also claims of where the game might take place as well as its overall theme. Both of these things give excited players an idea of what to expect from the game when it hits shelves.
When will Insomniac Game’s Wolverine be released?
Insomniac’s Wolverine will reportedly be released in 2025.
That estimate comes from DanielRPK, a leaker who has correctly leaked information regarding multiple Marvel projects in the past and recently reported on a movie adaptation of FromSoftware’s Bloodborne. He claims in his Patreon account that Insomniac’s new Wolverine game is expected to have a 2025 release date. He also says that the game will adopt a “darker” and “more violent” tone than Insomniac’s past work.
Insomniac released Spider-Man 2 earlier this year, so it’s expected that fans will have to wait some time for the game to be released. A previous leak from an artist working on Marvel’s Wolverine suggested a 2024 release date, though it is unclear whether that will happen now.
A 2025 release date for Wolverine would also align with the release gaps between recent Insomniac titles, making fans believe there might be some merit to this leak.

The reveal trailer for Insomniac’s Wolverine takes place in the Princess Bar, which is a location in Madripoor. Madripoor is an island in the Marvel universe where multiple X-Men stories have occurred, with Wolverine featuring prominently in them. Some fans might also remember the MCU rendition from the Disney+ series “Falcon and the Winter Soldier.”
Madripoor was mentioned in Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 alongside Trask Industries, the company responsible for building the giant Sentinel robots that have routinely hounded the X-Men over the years. All of this could play into the events of Insomniac’s Wolverine game. Insomniac has confirmed that Wolverine will exist in the same universe as its Spider-Man games.
