K-Pop group NewJeans is reportedly set to headline a Fortnite Festival close to the end of this year, and that’s bad news for Blackpink fans..
Epic Games’ battle royale title is well-known for bringing popular celebrities and musicians including Billie Eilish, Kid LAROI, and more. Following ’80s rock icons Metallica, leaks suggest Fortnite will go in a very different direction. The popular K-pop girl group NewJeans will reportedly headline their own Fortnite Festival in the game.
This might be a disappointing turn of events for fans, however. That’s because NewJeans appearing in Fortnite may mean the long-speculated Blackpink Fortnite event won’t happen.
Will Blackpink be in Fortnite?
Blackpink is not confirmed to be appearing in Fortnite, and it’s unlikely that this will happen.
Prior leaks from prominent figures around hinted at the arrival of a “female group of K-pop singers” who would likely appear during Fortnite in Season 7, with many speculating it would be Blackpink. While this hasn’t been completely debunked, Fortnite leaker JorgeMost on X says that NewJeans is coming to Fortnite in Season 6.
Odds are that this “female group of K-pop singers” is NewJeans. None of this is officially confirmed by Epic Games. But unless the company plans on a double-dip of Korean girl groups or JorgeMost is completely wrong, it’s unlikely that Blackpink is going to appear in Fortnite.
When will NewJeans be in Fortnite?
NewJeans will reportedly have an in-game concert in Fortnite in December 2024. It will be part of Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 6.
Precedent suggests that each member of the NewJeans group will receive their own in-games and skins with the Fortnite Festival Pass. This will also likely include a Fortnite Festival Pass with NewJeans-themed cosmetics and other unlockables.
Alongside Blackpink, NewJeans is regarded as one of the most influential pop groups in the world. The band gained popularity in 2022, and has emerged as one of the most globally recognizable K-pop acts thanks to new singles and live tours.
Rapper Snoop Dogg is set to precede NewJeans. He will reportedly have a Fortnite Festival event of his own with an in-game concert in October 2024. In the meantime, players can look forward to the typical grind of in-game content including a Pirates of the Caribbean event.
