Overwatch 2 hero Juno release date and abilities revealed

Blizzard Entertainment officially revealed the release date and abilities of Juno, the next support hero to join the Overwatch 2 roster.

Overwatch 2 has seen a major turnaround since it first came out. While many fans previously thought it was a reskinned and unnecessary sequel to 2016’s Game of the Year award winner, the new heroes and gameplay revamp have attracted lapsed and new fans to the fanbase. It hasn’t all been smooth sailing with Blizzard repeatedly opting to not give players what they spent money for, but its player count has been on a steady incline.

The addition of new heroes isn’t over yet, as Blizzard Games unveiled the next hero to join the Overwatch 2 roster. With good mobility and a unique space theme, Juno will likely bring the unique twist the game desperately needs.

Juno’s Overwatch 2 release date confirmed

Juno is coming to Overwatch 2 for a limited time from July 19 through July 21 and her full release date is August 20, 2024.

Overwatch 2 adds a new hero to the game every other season, meaning players can play as someone new every four months. The last hero to join the roster was the DPS archaeologist hero Venture, with the unique digging mechanic implemented in their gameplay.

Fortunately, players won’t have to worry about purchasing Juno, nor will they have to grind the battle pass as with Mauga. Every new hero added to the game is automatically unlocked for players in an effort by Blizzard to make the game less “pay to win.” The next hero will likely join near the end of December and might be a tank to keep the role pattern going.

Juno’s abilities adds some more space themes to Overwatch 2

Juno, also known as Space Ranger, has multiple support and mobility-based abilities in her arsenal.

The biggest standout feature is how Juno can glide through the air using her propellers. The ability is similar to Pharah but with a longer duration and air-time, allowing players to hover and even deliver a cool roundhouse kick melee attack if the opportunity arises.

The rest of Juno’s abilities include:

  • Juno’s primary Mediblaster submachine gun heals teammates while damaging enemies
  • Her secondary fire Pulsar Torpedoes launches torpedoes that target allies with healing burst fire and enemies with damaging fire
  • Her Hyper Ring is a deployable portal that gives teammates a major boost in movement speed, similar to Lucio
  • Juno’s ultimate is Orbital Ray, a moving beam that blasts onto the map from orbit. Instead of damaging enemies, it amplifies the damage output for teammates

Juno’s ultimate ability and Hyper Ring have the most support potential. Both can be paired with existing hero abilities to make game-winning plays, especially if the game returns to its 6v6 format.
