Nintendo Direct Partner Showcase officially revealed Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, alongside details about its platforms, release date, and the new content it will have on offer.
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance was released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch in 2021. While a game rating agency in Korea leaked an upcoming new version of the game titled Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, the February 21, 2024 Nintendo Direct: Partner Showcase officially announced it. More importantly, it explained what the game actually is.
This included info on the additional content it will add to the base game and the confirmation of new platforms. Here’s everything there is to know about this enhanced version.
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance new content
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance is a complete version of Shin Megami Tensei 5 with all of the DLCs and brand-new content including a new story path.
Similar to Persona 5 Royal and Persona 4 Golden, the new content in Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance will see the introduction of a new character resulting in the game’s story branching off in a new direction. However, while this is typically only felt at the end of Persona games, Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance will see this begin around the midway point of the game.
At the start of a new playthrough, players can either stick to the base game’s story or play the new route, estimated to be around 80 hours of playtime. The new version also has an auto-battle mode that wasn’t in the vanilla game. Other quality-of-life features include the ability to save anywhere, allocate the protagonist’s stats, speed up skill cutscenes, and adjust the mini-map.
Finally, two new DLCs will be released alongside Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance. These DLCs feature Dagda from SMT4 and a new demon named Konohanasakuya.
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance release date
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance is scheduled to release on June 21, 2024, four months after its initial reveal.
As for the platforms, Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance will be released on PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox Series X/S, and PC through Windows and Steam. It’s currently unconfirmed if the game will be available on Xbox Game Pass as recent Atlus releases have been.
Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance marks the first time an entry in the Shin Megami Tensei series is coming to Xbox, showcasing SEGA’s increased focus on multiplatform releases and indicating that Persona 6 and SMT 6 might come to Microsoft’s home consoles at launch as well.
