As the end of Pokemon GO’s Max Out season nears, Gigantamax Toxtricity is coming to Max Raids worldwide for one weekend only.
Gigantamax Toxtricity comes alongside the Pokemon GO Wild Area 2024, a ticketed event featuring electric and poison-type Pokemon. Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon began appearing in the popular mobile game in September 2024. Though their reign is coming to an end, players still have a chance to get their hands on a number of powerful Pokemon.
Players only have a limited time to complete the Gigantamax Toxtricity Max Raids, so now is a time to prep the best counters and strategies.
Best counters to defeat Gigantamax Toxtricity in Pokemon GO
The best Pokemon to counter Gigantamax Toxtricity are Excadrill with Max Quake and Metagross with Max Mindstorm.
Toxtricity is an electric-poison-type Pokemon. It’s thus weak to psychic moves and doubly weak to ground moves. While the pool of Dynamax and Gigantamax Pokemon is limited, there are options. Here are the best Pokemon to use in a Gigantamax Toxtricity raid:
- Excadrill with Mud Shot/Scorching Sands and Max Quake
- Metagross with Zen Headbutt/Earthquake and Max Mindstorm
- Gengar with Lick/Psychic and Max Mindstorm
- Rillaboom with Scratch/Earth Power and Max Quake
- Greedent with Mud Shot/Crunch and Max Quake
Unfortunately for players who may not have these Pokemon or pre-evolutions, Toxtricity is resistant to a lot of typings. These include grass, poison, fairy, and steel along with several others. Those who don’t have one of the above Pokemon and their respective move sets should look into building the largest raid party they can. Additionally, all moves should be leveled as high as possible.
Best Gigantamax Toxtricity strategy
Taking down Gigantamax Toxtricity in Pokemon Go requires a large number of players and a strategy to avoid being wiped out.
Players can find Gigantamax Toxtricity in 6-star Max Raids at Power Spots. Those who want to successfully take it down will need to make sure they have:
- 800 Max Particles, obtained through the Power Spot tab in the Nearby Pokemon sidebar or by visiting Power Spots
- At least eight players
- A variety of roles
For a 6-star Max Raid, the recommended amount of players is 10 to 40 with 4 displayed at a time. Additionally, there are three roles a player can take; damage dealer with a Max Move, healer with Max Spirit, and tank with Max Guard. An ideal team will have two damage dealers to one healer and one tank. Healer and tank specifically may be best for those who don’t have any of the recommended Dynamax Pokemon.
Gigantamax Toxtricity is available in Pokemon Go worldwide from November 23-24. Successful players will get a ~1486 CP Pokemon that will come in handy during the final Max Out season raids.
