Sega and Disney are reportedly partnered for a new game coming in 2025 and fan speculation has ranged from classic Disney game remakes to a Kingdom Hearts-style crossover game starring Sonic the Hedgehog. But what’s the real story?

Sega and Disney have partnered up on multiple occasions over the decades. Every Disney game developed for the Genesis was published by Sega. Sonic the Hedgehog himself has appeared in the video game film franchise Wreck-It Ralph while Ralph returned the favor. These collaborations prove the partnership has stayed healthy between the two studios.
Now, Sega and Disney will reportedly collaborate for a new mobile game, and there’s speculation abound on what it could be.

Disney and Sega have collaborated on remakes before. Disney released a remake of “Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse” in 2013, developed by the now-defunct Sega Studios Australia. Although the game initially launched for PC and consoles, it was eventually ported to Android and iOS. This would also fit into Sega’s revival plans of older franchises like Jet Set Radio.
However, recent remaster projects from Disney like Disney Classic Games Collection, which included the Sega-published Aladdin game for the Genesis, were developed by Digital Eclipse and published by Disney Interactive Studios. If the plan was for a mobile port of classic games, Disney may not actually need to rope Sega into it.
