Emily can be one of the most expensive romance options to pursue in Stardew Valley but there are some more affordable gifts that she will like, or even love.
Giving gifts in Stardew Valley isn’t particularly difficult. The exception is when players want to quickly befriend or romance a specific character. The bottlenecks of only giving two gifts per week and many characters wanting items that are either expensive, useful, or only available late-game can make things troublesome.
Emily is one of the biggest perpetrators of this. The valley’s foremost waitress has a love for gemstones and other items that, frankly, players would probably prefer to keep. Thankfully, Emily has several gifts that she likes and that can let Stardew Valley players build up hearts, even if they don’t want to give her something she truly loves.

All the best gifts to give to Emily in Stardew Valley
Emily is one of the priciest characters to befriend in Stardew Valley, with a taste for gems and artisan goods. Thankfully, Eric “ConcernedApe” Barone gave players some extra options for building up a relationship with her.
Best gifts to give Emily in Stardew Valley and unique loved gifts
Emily loves all of the game’s different gemstones, universal loves, Wool, and Cloth. Compared to characters like Linus, Emily has extremely expensive tastes. Not only that but she also loves various items that players usually have to go out of their way to get for community center bundles.
Here is the full list of gifts that Emily loves:
- Amethyst
- Aquamarine
- Cloth
- Emerald
- Jade
- Parrot Egg
- Ruby
- Survival Burger
- Topaz
- Wool
- Golden Pumpkin
- Magic Rock Candy
- Pearl
- Prismatic Shard
- Rabbit’s Foot
- Stardrop Tea
Gifts that Emily likes
Emily likes most cooked foods, vegetables, fruits, and artisan goods. More importantly, Emily has two key unique gifts that she likes that are key to building a relationship with her during Stardew Valley’s early game:
- Quartz
- Daffodil
Quartz is valuable as it can be refined to create Refined Quartz, which is used to craft Lightning Rods and Quality Sprinklers, but players will likely find themselves having more than they need at some point. Daffodils are also great, as players will find themselves foraging for them right at the start of the game.
Emily disliked and hated gifts
Emily dislikes or hates seafood, Salmonberries, Holly, and the usual roundup of unappealing gifted items. All characters hate items like unprocessed fish like Catfish, Warp Totems, and building materials like Clay. Emily takes this a step further by also disliking or even hating some artisan goods and foods made from these items.
Here are Emily’s most notable disliked gifts and hates:
- Fish Taco
- Fried Eel
- Holly
- Ice Cream
- Maki Roll
- Rice Pudding
- Salmonberry
- Salmon Dinner
- Sashimi
- Spicy Eel
Salmonberries are particularly notable as they’re a common early game item that characters have varied opinions on. Ice Cream also sticks out as a strong majority of Stardew Valley characters like or love it as a gift, but Emily hates it.

Best Emily gift progression in Stardew Valley
Players should make sure to give Daffodils and Quartz before pivoting to cheaper gemstones that aren’t used in crafting like Amethyst.
Daffodils are the go-to early-game gift option for several characters in Stardew Valley and Quartz is liked by some, but there aren’t really any strong alternatives for players who want to prioritize Emily. Gemstones are best donated to the library or sold for some quick cash in the first few seasons. Wool and Cloth probably won’t be available until the mid-game, and the first ones players get should go to the community center.
But once players are farming effectively, the 100g or 200g offered by Aquamarines and Amethysts isn’t that much. They’re still valuable in forging late-game weapons, but players will find loads of otherwise useless gemstones once they start scouring for iridium.
