At long last, there are finally concrete details regarding the Persona 5: The Phantom X global release date and potential ports for PS5 and other consoles.

Persona 5: The Phantom X is another entry in the ever-growing list of Persona 5 spin-offs. The Persona 5-based gacha game boasts a story, OST, and graphical styling that stands on par with the main game. On its looks alone, many fans have wanted to get their hands on it. For a long while, Persona 5: The Phantom X seemed like it would be locked in select Asian markets, with even Japan set to miss out.

Fortunately, not all hope is lost. A 2024 press meeting at Bilibili World updated fans around the globe about Persona 5: The Phantom X. The producers also gave details on potential console ports for fans wanting to play the game on their TV, instead of on their phone.

Will Persona 5: The Phantom X get a global release?

The Persona 5: The Phantom X team confirmed in a press meeting at Bilibili World that it plans to release the game globally.

SEGA’s early 2024 financial reports indicated that Japanese and international releases were likely coming at some point. Meanwhile, leaks have discussed console versions of Persona 5: The Phantom X, particularly for the PS5. This was around a month after the Chinese version launched on April 12, 2024. However, the team is now planning a global release. It’s unknown when the game will be released globally, and there is no estimated release date.

With the Japanese and international versions so far behind the Chinese version of Persona 5: The Phantom X, character banners, and story events will likely be redone. This isn’t anything new, as international releases of other gacha games like Fate/Grand Order are also behind the initial release.

The press meeting also reportedly revealed plans to collaborate with multiple mainline Persona games.

The mentioned games include Persona 3 Reload, Persona 4 Golden, and Persona 5 Royal. Character banners are the most likely but they may also add limited-time story collaboration events. Some potential lost story elements to Persona 5 could be explored, like the initial plans to include Persona 4 characters in Persona 5.

Will Persona 5: The Phantom X come out on PS5 or any other consoles?

Developers confirmed that they will start work on console ports of Persona 5: The Phantom X after the international release, which means it will likely come out on PS5.

There’s no information on when the console ports will come out or what platforms will be considered. Alongside PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S releases, it’s possible that PS4 and Xbox One could also get the game. Sega and its subsidiaries, including Atlus, have been prioritizing broad multi-platform releases, which was seen with Persona 3 Reload being playable on past-gen consoles.

A Nintendo Switch version is also potentially possible, as the game is already optimized for mobile devices. The last two Persona 5 spin-off games Persona 5 Strikers and Persona 5 Tactica came out for the Nintendo Switch at launch.

The X-factor in this is Persona 5: The Phantom X is a gacha game, with PS4 and PS5 being the only consoles that accept this genre. HoYoverse games like Zenless Zone Zero and Genshin Impact are PlayStation-exclusive while and have not come out on Xbox or Nintendo consoles. That may change in the future, but for the time being, only PS5 owners should really get their hopes up about playing Persona 5: The Phantom X.
