Persona 6: We may know much more than what Atlus just showed

persona 6

At long last, Persona 6 has been officially revealed by Atlus and we might already know a good bit about it.

The next mainline installment in the iconic RPG series has been one of the most-talked-about titles in recent years. This comes despite the fact that neither Atlus nor Sega has made any concrete statements regarding the game. In fact, the persistently strong sales for Persona 5 and its spin-offs made it so that Atlus was likely better served not releasing a sequel until things cooled off.

Atlus finally gave fans something to look forward to during June’s crush of gaming news surrounding Summer Game Fest and Sony’s State of Play. The teaser trailer for Persona 6 has dropped and while it showed very little, it did confirm a previous leak that could give fans some details on what’s to come.

Atlus offers few details on Persona 6, except for platforms

Atlus confirmed the lineup of platforms for Persona 6. This includes:

  • PlayStation 5
  • Xbox Series X/S
  • PC

That’s a break from recent form for Atlus. Sega and its subsidiaries have actively pursued comprehensive cross-platform and sometimes cross-generation releases for many of its titles. Games including Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army, Persona 5 Tactica, Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds, and Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth have been made broadly available to gamers.

With Persona 6, Atlus looks ready to finally step away from the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. What’s more, the teaser trailer noticeably did not acknowledge the Nintendo Switch 2. This is a fairly surprising turn as Atlus released Raidou Remastered: The Mystery of the Soulless Army on the Switch and Switch 2, and ported Persona 3 Reload to Switch 2. While the game could be a long way away from release, Atlus has also proven itself willing to leave Nintendo platforms behind if their hardware can’t handle the games.

Regardless, the platform lineup was the only information that was officially revealed on Persona 6. That said, there’s an abundance of unofficial information that has trickled out on the game over the last few years.

Persona 6 leaks include dual protagonists, setting, and more

The former leaker known as Midori revealed a great deal of information on the Persona franchise before effectively disappearing from the internet in 2024. While they were a controversial figure before vanishing, many of their reports regarding Atlus have panned out.

They first rose to prominence by scooping Atlus on the reveal of Persona 3 Reload and the release of DLC characters in Persona 5 Tactica. Since their disappearance, many of their reports regarding Atlus and Sega have panned out. This includes Persona 3 Reload coming to Switch 2, a remake of Persona 4, and a remake of an unspecified PlayStation 2 game, which may have been Raidou Remastered.

One of their predictions regarding Persona 6 was effectively confirmed to be true, with the game’s color being green with a black-and-white motif.

Alongside this, they effectively co-signed another leaker’s report that Persona 6 will use a dual-protagonist system. They also stated that the game will continue to be set in high school. While many fans harrumphed over the comparatively immature setting, the teaser trailer strongly hinted at an extremely dark tone for the game.

Though this hasn’t been officially confirmed by Atlus, there looks to be enough smoke to these leaks to suspect there’s a fire.
