Persona 6 getting major story changes, including 2 protagonists

A Persona leaker gave new information about Persona 6, and it seems like the game’s story will have two protagonists and setting.

Persona 6 is one of the most anticipated JRPGs, largely thanks to just how successful Persona 5 was. With its stylized look and iconic soundtracks, the series now has worldwide fans anxiously awaiting the next Persona entry. While Sega and Atlus are quiet about the game, that won’t stop leakers from revealing key details.

An X user who specifically focuses on Persona content leaked information about Persona 6. The leaks reveal that Persona 6 may have two separate protagonists. Fans also know the core theme they can expect from the game. The highlight of these leaks is that a former Persona and Sega leaker co-signed them.

Will Persona 6 have two protagonists?

Persona 6 will reportedly have two protagonists named Kuro and Shiro.

This information comes from X user p0wyful, who states the core focus of Persona 6’s story is duality. Kuro and Shiro translate to black and white in Japanese. Just like their names, the user states the two protagonists will also likely have differing personalities and ideologies.

While both protagonists are playable, players don’t get the choice to pick one over the other. Similar to Yakuza 0, different points in the story likely force players to control one of the two protagonists.

However, the X user states one protagonist takes priority over the other in focus and screen time. It’s unknown which character the story focuses on more, but it’s apparently the male one. Both Kuro and Shiro are gender-neutral names, so either could be the male character. This also suggests the second protagonist is a female, as seen with previous Persona entries.

The leaker formerly known as Midori unofficially confirmed this information by replying to the thread. Midori, now known as ryanfrombronx, is a former Sega leaker who faced doxxing after hiding their identity. The former Midori had a proven track record of leaking key Persona details, and p0wyful’s thread repeated things like Persona 6’s main color and the 2025 release date.

Where will Persona 6’s story take place?

Persona 6’s story is said to take place in an art school and will focus on modernity versus tradition.

The high school setting is a cornerstone of the Persona series and Persona 6 will be no different. While some assumed the high school setting has overstayed its welcome after over two decades, user p0wyful’s thread states the series will explore the high school setting again. The former Midori had previously leaked the game would have a high school setting.

This time, however, instead of a regular high school, Persona 6 will take players to an art school. This is where most of the game’s core themes and conflicts will get established, including modernity versus tradition. It’s unknown which stance the protagonists will take, but it explains the black and white theme.

Additional art-related mediums will apparently get a minor focus. These mediums include music, dancing, writing, and more. This could mean that every confidant will be from a different artistic discipline. One character of the player’s party may be a singer, another might be a writer, and so on. Though leakers continue to bring out details on the game, fans are still waiting for Sega to officially reveal it.
