Tectone banned from Twitch for the first time, here’s why

Tectone calls out Kick

Twitch streamer John “Tectone” Robertson was unexpectedly banned from the streaming platform, sparking confusion among fans regarding the reason for his suspension.

Tectone is a controversial streamer who is in the news for his blunt opinions and outspoken nature. In November 2024, Tectone went as far as to threaten Jeff Bezos during a stream. Tectone claimed the Amazon head honcho wants him banned from Twitch but he should be careful as the streamer has proof that he is a “closeted furry.”

In the same month, Tectone was in the news because his ex-girlfriend accused him of abuse. This led to Tectone eventually departing from the OTK streaming group. Zack “Asmongold” Hoyt even stated that the steamer should be jailed if found guilty. Tectone is now in the news again, and this time it’s because he has been banned from Twitch for the first time.

Why was Tectone banned from Twitch?

Twitch allegedly banned Tectone for watching the anime Solo Leveling during a live stream, which violated the platform’s copyright guidelines.

Twitch is notorious for not sharing why it suspends a channel or takes action against a streamer. Tectone hasn’t issued an official statement so there is no information about the ban from the streamer or the platform.

Some viewers who watched Tectone’s recent streams have come forward with the alleged offense that caused the streamer to be banned from Twitch. An X user tweeted that Tectone livestreamed himself watching anime series Solo Leveling. This goes against Twitch’s guidelines as the platform has a strict policy against streamers streaming copyrighted content.

Twitch Ban

Tectone is a huge anime buff and spends a significant time talking about anime series on stream. He has even ranked various anime with other streamers on multiple streams, arguing fervently for his favorites. While Twitch won’t explicitly say that Tectone was banned for streaming Solo Leveling, an X user shared a clip of the stream where he was apparently watching the anime. This strengthens the validity of the claim that it was almost certainly why he was banned.

The streamer’s channel displays that he has only been temporarily banned, so he should be back once the ban duration passes. The exact duration of the suspension isn’t yet confirmed, but Twitch may offer a lighter punishment because this is Tectone’s first bannable offense.
