ZZZ update 1.6 brought two unique characters to the game’s roster alongside a new gameplay mechanic with aftershock attacks, but the release date of version 1.7 is still right around the corner.
HoYoverse is on a content treadmill with all its games but it’s been iterating on Zenless Zone Zero at an incredible rate. Just a few months ago, the entire team shared one ultimate bar meter, story missions were tied to exploration gameplay, and Lucy was the only real off-field DPS option.
But now, Zenless Zone Zero is positioned to settle into its new meta and will likely slide toward the 2.0 update. The next step on that path is the launch of version 1.7. Here’s what we know about it.
ZZZ version 1.7 release date set
The release date for the ZZZ 1.7 update is April 23, 2025.
Version 1.6 launched with a boatload of new content including S-rank agent Soldier 0 Anby, A-rank agent Pulchra, and a double helping of stories. It’s unclear what might come in version 1.7, though.
Version 1.6’s new “Phaethon’s Story” missions are categorized in the HDD as “Season 1 Epilogue” rather than being part of a new chapter. However, data miners have suggested that a new addition to the main story is set to come out during ZZZ patch 1.7. It could be an “interlude” chapter like what was seen in version 1.1, or the epilogue could be expanded.
That said, fans can expect things to keep them busy regardless. In addition to the usual roundup of Shiyu Defense and Notorious Hunt missions, there will likely be numerous limited-time events. And of course, there will be new characters and returning S-rank agents to blow Polychromes on.
Zenless Zone Zero 1.7 new S-rank banners confirmed
Hugo and Vivian are set to be the new S-rank agents featured in ZZZ version 1.7’s banners.
Vivian and Hugo, paradoxically, were the most prominently featured characters in version 1.6’s new story content. Though Soldier 0 Anby, new stun agent Trigger, and Soldier 11 all had a moment in the spotlight through an agent story, the new addition to the Season 1 Epilogue chapter centered around the introductions of the Mockingbird faction and the evil TOPS organization. While it would’ve made more sense to have Hugo and Vivian in the 1.6 banners, they’re instead in version 1.7.
Vivian’s release date is set to be April 23, 2025 alongside the launch of ZZZ 1.7. Her drip marketing arrived shortly before Hugo’s, and HoYoverse has largely telegraphed the order of agents’ release in this way. It’s unclear when Hugo will arrive, but precedent suggests it will be two or three weeks after.
The next batch of reruns is uncertain. Jane Doe and Caesar should be the next in line chronologically. However, notable Zenless Zone Zero leaker Leifa indicated that Jane Doe will run alongside Vivian while Sons of Calydon stunner Lighter will instead return in phase two.
Either way, both disorder teams and attacker teams are set to have new options arrive in ZZZ version 1.7.
