The complete competitive Marvel Rivals Season 0 tier list

Marvel Rivals tier list image

With a quickly evolving meta, the Marvel Rivals tier list for Season 0 has gone through some significant changes.

Marvel Rivals brings together the heroes of the Marvel universe and pit them against each other. There are 33 heroes available for players to choose from. But not all of them are in the same power level.

Luckily for players, the game doesn’t have a lot of bad heroes. Even then, these so-called “bad heroes” can still do damage in the right hands. Ultimately, tier lists are guidelines as to which heroes perform the best with the least amount of effort, especially compared to other heroes.

All S-Tier Marvel Rivals characters

marvel rivals tier list jeff the shark

The Marvel Rivals characters listed on this tier are widely considered some of the most effective value additions to the team. Most of these heroes are very hard to deal with, whether due to their DPS output, incredible ultimates, or nigh-broken stats.

S-Tier CharacterWhat they do
Jeff the SharkGreat heals, provides speed boosts, can eradicate the whole enemy team if given the chance with his ultimate.
Peni ParkerPowerful zone denier. Makes it hard for the enemy to capture zones if Spider-Nests are not cleared.
HelDeals absurd damage with her ultimate and normals.
Luna SnowMakes her whole team almost immortal with her ultimate.
MantisHer ultimate can top up her teammates quickly and her Spore Slumber can easily stop heroes like Iron Fist and Venom and open them up to attacks.
HawkeyeAbsurd damage from range, forcing the enemy team to play around him.

Hawkeye and Jeff the Land Shark

Hawkeye is a hero that should never be left unchecked. His damage output is solid, and he can consistently two-shot most non-tank heroes. The enemy team picking a Hawkeye forces players to play around him. Oftentimes, this would entail picking up heroes like Spider-Man or Black Panther to focus on him and shut him down.

Jeff as a hero looks adorable, but his ability to eat everyone and spit them off the map makes him a constant threat. In addition to his swingy ultimate, Jeff can also provide solid heals, making him a reliable strategist with decent DPS. Jeff mains should always hang around choke points and ledges for an easy ace.

Luna Snow and Mantis

Luna Snow’s greatest boon is making the whole team effectively unkillable during her ultimate. Her ultimate restores so much health that she can just stand in the middle and heal everyone to full HP. When she’s done healing them up, she can also switch it up and give them a massive damage boost, making her crucial for team fights.

Mantis is another skillful strategist in Marvel Rivals. She’s one of the only strategists who has a way to protect themselves. Her damage boosts also make her valuable for DPS-heavy teams. Her Spore Slumber makes her an effective counter to divers like Iron Fist as the ability opens them up to being targeted. Her ultimate is also pretty similar to Luna Snow where Mantis can quickly top up her teammates.

Peni Parker and Hel

Peni Parker is a pretty weird tank in Marvel Rivals. Peni is a pure zoner tank that can deny the enemy team a lot of space as long as she’s able to set up. She can feel unkillable if players don’t deal with her webs and Bionic Spider-Nest. Her snare also has a very short cooldown, meaning she can lock down enemies with ease.

Hel, as of Season 0, is one of the top-performing DPS in Marvel Rivals. Her survivability paired with high damage output can help her carry teams to victory. While she’s still relatively squishy against melee opponents, good Hel players won’t get caught in that situation anyway.

All A-Tier Marvel Rivals characters

marvel rivals tier list iron fist

Every character in this part of the Marvel Rivals tier list is still strong and can dominate games. The main difference between the heroes listed here is that they take more effort, or have well-known counters.

A-Tier CharacterWhat they do
Iron FistAbsurdly high melee DPS, solid HP, and enhanced mobility
Rocket RaccoonCan safely revive teammates and provide damage amplification.
Adam WarlockBurst heals, can revive teammates using his ultimate, and deals decent damage with his attacks.
Moon KnightMassive AoE Damage with ankhs and ultimate
Black PantherOne of the best 1v1 divers in the game
Iron ManPretty clunky but deals a lot of damage if left unchecked.
LokiA hard hero to put in a tier list due to his ultimate but Loki’s heals alone land him in this tier.
Spider-ManWhile hard to use, an optimized Spider-Man is a slippery backline threat.
MagnetoGreat shields for the team, can be very tanky if used properly.
The PunisherGood sustained damage, can decimate non-Vanguard opponents quickly.
Winter SoldierUltimate resets and can result in multiple kills.
Cloak & DaggerOne of the only Strategists that can disrupt enemy divers.
Captain AmericaAmazing diver, not as sticky as Iron Fist, but very tanky.
PsylockeHard to catch, devastating ultimate for the backline.
VenomPowerful diver. Can shield himself and is very hard to deal with.
Star-LordHas auto-aim for ultimate and likes to fight close range.
ThorDeals good damage for a Vanguard. However, quite squishy.
GrootCuts off the line of sight from strategists and isolates heroes, putting them in a bad spot.
Doctor StrangePortals allow for weird angles that can catch the opposing team off-guard. His ultimate is also a game changer.

Groot and Doctor Strange

Groot’s ability to put up walls of trees lands him a spot in A-tier. The most important thing for strategists to be able to heal another hero is line of sight. Groot can deny this by putting walls up and isolating heroes from their strategists. Plus, these can make holding a point much easier, as hampering line of sight and mobility can throw enemies off.

Doctor Strange is a tank with a few tricks up his sleeve. His main gimmick is his portal. There are a few ways to use the portal, he can troll his opponents by directing the portal to the edge of the map. He can also use it to attack from different angles with his team, such as directly on the capture point. His ultimate is a great way to wipe out the enemy team as long as his team follows up with it.

Rocket Raccoon and Adam Warlock

Rocket Raccoon offers solid damage boosts and healing, plus can be tricky to get rid of due to a smaller hitbox. His team-ups with Punisher and The Winter Soldier also make those two soldiers one-man armies. His dispensers can also revive fallen teammates, especially useful in maps with long paths to spawn.

Adam Warlock is a strategist who can surprisingly pack a punch. Their array of buffs and heals makes the friendly team stickier. Adding to that staying power is Adam Warlock’s ability to revive himself and his teammates. Some players even found exploits to speed up his DPS with the right timing on his attacks.

Iron Fist and Moon Knight

By now, players know of the name Iron Fist. Many players consider Iron Fist the most broken hero. He can be pretty tanky, he can deal a lot of damage, and he has great mobility. He can even be seen chasing Iron Man across the map at heights he has no business being in. While the initial terror of Iron Fist has surely faded, it’s still easy for him to take over games, especially in lower ranks.

Moon Knight is a hero who’s pretty annoying to deal with if players don’t destroy his ankhs. If these ankhs are not destroyed, he can deal devastating damage in an area. Even heroes in the game are always yelling about their ankhs and why they should be destroyed immediately.

Iron Man and Loki

Iron Man is one of the easiest DPS heroes to use. His flight also means he’s one of the easiest to target for top-tier DPS like Hawkeye. Despite this, his ability to deal tons of damage consistently, alongside a devastating ultimate, earns him a spot in the A-tier.

Loki is a weird character to rank in a tier list. He’s solid, he can provide heals that will make players feel unkillable. What makes Loki hard to rank is his ultimate. His ultimate allows him to take the form of another hero with a chance to cast that hero’s ultimate ability. Using his ultimate on the right hero will tilt the scales in his favor.

Magneto and The Punisher

Magneto shines as a conservative tank. He’s not a diver like Venom nor is he a rampaging tank like the Hulk. However, what he provides is a big shield that blocks almost anything, additional magnetic shields, and solid damage output. His ultimate is also good for finishing off low HP heroes in an AoE or softening them up.

In contrast, the Punisher is a great damage dealer. He’s one of the only duelists with 275 health while most of them have 250. Having 275 health as a duelist means that The Punisher can stay in battle longer than his peers. Aside from this, he can have trouble with divers like Venom and Iron Fist due to his turret being stationary.

The Winter Soldier and Black Panther

The Winter Soldier is a duelist who wants to stay in his opponent’s face. Even though he wields a gun, his abilities want him to stay at close range. Bucky’s skills make him the perfect midrange hero, a needed balance for any DPS team. His ultimate is particularly strong as he can reset its cooldown if he gets an elimination with it.

Black Panther has a great time dealing with isolated opponents and usually wins one-on-ones. However, he can have trouble dealing with teams that are grouped up and aware of him. He can easily get focused down but he doesn’t have the verticality and speed that Spider-Man has which makes him easier to hit.

Cloak & Dagger

Cloak & Dagger is one of the only strategists that can be disruptive to the enemy team. They can blind enemies and deal respectable damage to opponents. Their most effective use, naturally, is as team healers. The snap-on healing daggers, multiple AoE heals, and solid survivability make this pair a complex yet effective strategist.

Psylocke and Venom

Psylocke is another duelist with an assassin playstyle. She’s more traditional than Spider-Man. Her abilities closely resemble Genji’s from Overwatch. She can be really slippery and hard to catch, which is huge. Her ultimate is a great way to disrupt opponent backlines and leave them with no strategists for the fight.

Venom is a tank who’s gameplan is to dive and dive until someone dies. He doesn’t play like other tanks with shields. He’s more of an in-your-face tank that goes to the backlines and makes things difficult for strategists.

Star-Lord and Thor

Star-Lord is a duelist who excels in fighting enemies like Black Widow and Hawkeye. His mobility allows him to reach heights that can be pretty surprising for his enemies. Fighting him one-on-one can be quite difficult as he has Stellar Shift which makes him tumble in a direction and gives him a short bit of invincibility.

Thor is another off-tank Vanguard. Played correctly, he can deal a lot of damage and melt anyone in front of him. However, his abilities might take other people quite some time to get used to. Thor can also be quite squishy without the support of his healers as his shield isn’t as big as Venom, his other off-tank counterpart.

All B-tier Marvel Rival Characters

marvel rivals tier list squirrel girl

This section of the Marvel Rivals tier list features characters with solid foundations but lacks that extra “oomph” that makes those in higher tiers more popular. Even so, players can contribute very well to the team with these characters.

B-Tier HeroWhat they do
HulkSquishy Vanguard compared to his peers.
NamorNeeds his Aquatic Dominions to be able to deal damage.
Squirrel GirlDeals quite a bit of damage, but her single-minded approach can easily by stifled by divers.
WolverineToo squishy and doesn’t deal a lot of damage.
Scarlet WitchHas a team-wiping ultimate that doesn’t require much aim.
MagikCan one-shot heroes and get big shields for survivability

Hulk and Namor

The Hulk is an underwhelming vanguard in Marvel Rivals. While he can tank and immobilize enemies, it’s his defense that’s the problem. For a tank, Hulk is way squishier than his peers and is just a weird pick overall.

Namor is a very annoying hero to face. He sets up mini turrets with his Aquatic Dominions which can deal a lot of damage if left unchecked. However, these turrets are also easily destroyed and Namor without his turrets is pretty useless.

Squirrel Girl and Wolverine

Squirrel Girl is a duelist that can deal quite a lot of damage. Her playstyle often involves her standing in a corner where she can hit everybody with her area-of-effect projectiles. This single-minded approach is easy to shut down. Divers like Venom and Iron Fist can harass her and force the player to switch off her.

Wolverine doesn’t deal enough damage as he should. Compared to heroes like Magik and Spider-Man, he can’t one-shot enemies and can’t kill them fast enough. He’s a hybrid between a tank and a duelist. However, he’s not as tanky as Captain America or as powerful as Black Panther. Team-ups like Fastball SPecial with the Hulk do make Wolverine more useful in specific instances.

Scarlet Witch and Magik

Scarlet Witch is a weird combination of D.Va and Moira from Overwatch. She has Moira’s “auto-aim” where players don’t need to be super accurate with their mice to deal damage. The most powerful ability of the Scarlet Witch is her ultimate which is similar to D.Va’s Self-Destruct. However, players can easily avoid this by hiding behind a solid structure.

Magik, like Black Panther, is highly dependent on player skill. Her primary role in a team fight is to dive into the backline and one-shot strategists. Magik gains shields whenever her abilities deal damage which can be hard for strategists to deal with.

Spider-Man and Captain America

Spider-Man gets in and gets out, most of the time with the enemy team missing a member. Even if he’s considered one of the harder heroes to play, the effort in learning the character pays off greatly. A Spider-Man player who’s on point is very hard to catch and can eliminate any non-tank hero in a single combo. Still, his squishiness means even a mediocre Spider-Man player will feed the enemy team regularly.

Captain America is a Vanguard with the potential for S-tier, if not for his poor damage output. His diving abilities are comparable to Iron Fist’s but the damage isn’t there. He’s also not as sticky as Iron Fist which means that enemy teams can disengage from him easily. Even so, his shield and mobility make him a solid bruiser against the enemy backline.

All C-Tier Marvel Rivals Heroes

marvel rivals tier list black widow

The final part of the Marvel Rivals tier list only features two heroines. While they can still perform very well in the hands of very skilled players, they cannot keep up with the rest of the meta picks.

C-Tier HeroesWhat they do
StormActs more as a support. Weak on her own and a big target.
Black WidowDecent sniper but easily dived by other heroes.

Storm and Black Widow

Storm is another weird character to rank. On her own, she’s very weak. However, if she’s with her team, she can make her team unstoppable. She’s more of a support hero than one who can fight the enemy team on her own.

Black Widow is a sniper that players were afraid of when she was first announced. However, her actual gameplay is an underwhelming version of Hawkeye. Her sniper rifle takes two shots to kill, her mobility is bad, and she can’t deal with divers.

Once again, do not take any Marvel Rivals tier list as the end-all, be-all of the meta. The competitive scene is constantly evolving, but Season 0 has showcased the following heroes are the best (or worst) at their roles. Learning their strengths and minimizing their weaknesses is key to any Marvel Rivals character, and that’s what tier list placements can help with.
