Netherrealm Studios has confirmed the DLC schedule for Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack as well as which characters will be included.
Modern fighting games have taken up the live service to some degree, and part of that is a steady stream of new fighters. Street Fighter 6 already has a fully detailed schedule for its first season of DLC, which includes the likes of Rashid, A.K.I., Ed, and Akuma.
Not wanting to be outdone, Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack features six upcoming playable characters. Two of these Kombat Pack characters are already heavily featured in the story, but access to their gameplay is still coming. Here is the full list of characters and when they are set to launch.
Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack fighters and Kameo characters list, DLC schedule
Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack will add six fighters to the roster alongside several more Kameo fighters. The lineup includes three guest characters all pulled from the same comic book archetype. Alongside them are a number of familiar faces, including some that are already in Mortal Kombat 1.
Omni-Man and Tremor (November 2023)
Omni-Man is the first Mortal Kombat 1 DLC character scheduled to drop from the Kombat Pack. The gameplay trailer showcased his distinctly Injustice-style moveset, albeit updated for the more brutal visuals of Mortal Kombat. While many of his moves are references to his most powerful feats in the series, it remains to be seen how viable the Viltrumite will end up being.
Quan Chi (Winter 2023/2024)
Quan Chi is one of the stranger characters to not be included in the base roster, especially considering his presence in the story mode. Of course, Quan Chi’s moveset in the story mode is mostly recycling Shang Tsung’s moveset from Mortal Kombat 11, albeit with different impacts. Hopefully, the DLC changes Quan Chi’s moves to be a bit more unique.
Peacemaker (Winter 2023/2024)
Peacemaker marks the second appearance of John Cena in an iconic fighting game franchise. Cena appeared in the mobile title King of Fighters All Star, where he appeared alongside The Rock and The Undertaker. While no gameplay footage exists yet, there’s the likelihood that Peacemaker is more of a zoner-type character similar to Robocop in Mortal Kombat 11.
Ermac (Spring 2024)
Ermac is the next story-exclusive character to finally be playable, following Quan Chi. Currently, his moveset is also a copy, specifically pulling from Noob Saibot from Mortal Kombat 11 with only a few unique moves. Given Ermac’s absence from Mortal Kombat 11, fans of the psionic ninja are hoping for gameplay as fun as his Mortal Kombat X iteration.
Homelander (Spring 2024)
Homelander was hyped up to be the biggest guest character of the bunch, given that he was the final character introduced in the teaser trailer, hovering over the rest. He’s not getting that treatment in the actual Mortal Kombat 1 DLC schedule though, coming out as the penultimate character in the Kombat Pack.
The question in many players’ minds is how a character like Homelander would play differently from Omni-Man, a similar “Bad Superman” character. Injustice pulled it off with Supergirl and Superman, but only time will tell if Netherrealm accomplishes that here.
Takeda Takahashi (Summer 2024)
Closing Mortal Kombat 1’s Kombat Pack releases is none other than Takeda Takahashi, one of the “Kombat Kids” missing from Mortal Kombat 11. Given the nature of the new timeline, it will be interesting to see if he is from the MK9 timeline or a future son of Kenshi in the new timeline. If he’s as fun to play with as his Mortal Kombat X iteration, then it’s a job well done.
Mortal Kombat 1 Kombat Pack Kameo fighters list
There are five Kameo characters confirmed in the first Kombat Pack. The full list includes:
- Tremor
- Ferra
- Janet Cage
- Khameleon
- Mavado
Tremor is set to arrive alongside Omni-Man in November 2023, but the rest of the Kameo fighters are yet to have release windows. Fans have already gotten a taste of some of these characters in Mortal Kombat 1.
Khameleon is a story-exclusive Kameo that appears as an AI enemy, while Janet Cage made an appearance in the story mode’s ending sequence. Ferra is likely to be her “grown-up” form, as seen in her Mortal Kombat X story mode ending. Mavado, a Red Dragon crimelord, makes his first appearance since the Mortal Kombat X comic series.
Odds are that many of these characters will be packaged alongside the six playable characters, but there’s set to be at least one that comes out solo.
