Vampire Survivors is paying homage to the series that made vampires a staple of gaming with the Ode to Castlevania DLC.
It’s a golden age for indie titles, and one of the most beloved success stories is Vampire Survivors. An addictive Roguelite bullet hell fighting against hordes of monsters, Vampire Survivors quickly rose through the ranks of popular games. Part of its ongoing success is regular updates and DLC.
Compared to the typical deluge of DLC nearly as expensive as the game itself, Vampire Survivor DLC comes at an incredibly affordable price. These DLC, from original creations to crossovers, add tons of new characters, weapons, and more. The latest DLC crosses over with Konami’s landmark vampire franchise: Castlevania.
What is the release date of the Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania DLC?
Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania will be available on all platforms on October 31, 2024.
While Vampire Survivors players have slayed countless undead forces collectively, the Belmont family remains the most prolific vampire hunters in all gaming. Amusingly, the addition of Castlevania is the most vampirey thing in Vampire Survivors history. Despite being called Vampire Survivors, the game features no actual vampires.
That is, until Alucard’s confirmation as a playable hunter in the upcoming DLC. Even then, he’s only half a vampire. However, eagle-eyed fans spotted Elizabeth from Castlevania: Bloodlines, the self-proclaimed queen of vampires. Whether she’s a hunter or foe remains to be seen. Nevertheless, classic heroes like Simon Belmont and deep pulls like Sonia Belmont ensure a healthy supply of vampire hunters. In addition to the characters, the Ode to Castlevania DLC also features 40+ new weapons, 30+ new songs, and the largest map in Vampire Survivors history.
List of confirmed characters in Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania (so far)
The Ode to Castlevania DLC for Vampire Survivors delves deep into the series’ history. This includes characters from a long list of games, as well as the popular animated adaptations.
Every iconic Belmont is obviously accounted for, but there are a few surprisingly obscure picks. Here’s the full list of confirmed characters in the Vampire Survivors: Ode to Castlevania DLC:
- Simon
- Trevor
- Richter
- Leon
- Christopher
- Juste
- Julius
- Grant
- Soma
- Sonia
- Sypha
- Yoko
- Charlotte Aulin
- Maria Renard
- Jonathan Morris
- John Morris
- Shanoa
- Eric Lecarde
- Alucard
The Steam description teased more than 20 new characters, so it’s likely more will be discovered upon launch. Although an exciting DLC for Vampire Survivor fans, Castlevania fans have mixed emotions.
Though Castlevania fans will still play the DLC, they can’t help but feel bad that the games remain stuck in “crossover hell” like Megaman. After all, Castlevania also crossed over with Dead by Daylight earlier in 2024. Still, a few dozen massacred hordes in Vampire Survivors should scratch the itch for a while.
