Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is reportedly set to add an original playable character to the game with Lawless, but who is this new villain-turned-hero?
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is set in the not-actually-dead Arkhamverse and will be built around Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang, and Deadshot. Rumors and leaks regarding other playable characters or who could appear as NPCs have swirled since the game was initially teased. While much of this has centered around familiar names like Poison Ivy and Deathstroke, a leaker is claiming that original takes on existing characters from the comics are in the pipeline.
Miller Ross, who has previously revealed information regarding Suicide Squad, including potential future DLC characters, claims that Zoe Lawton will join the roster as a DLC playable character. He also gave fans hints about when fans can expect to see Lawless in the game.
Who is Lawless in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
Lawless is a new version of Zoe Lawton, primarily known as Deadshot’s daughter, in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League.
Zoe is a pre-existing character in the DC Universe who has been central to recent portrayals of Deadshot. Depictions have varied in terms of her age and relationship with her father, though she tends to have a positive relationship with him or even regard him as a hero.
The new version of the character will be an anti-hero with a secret identity who also happens to be a popular livestreamer. Her secret identity and the social media barrier insulate her from potential repercussions for her superheroics, but it’s suggested that she has some powerful enemies. The leaker states that she will have a “gravity-warping gauntlet” as her weapon, which can seemingly be used as a shield.
The reveal also honed in on the titular character of the Arkham Knight game as an example of what’s in store for Lawless in Suicide Squad. The Arkham Knight character was initially presented as an original creation by Rocksteady Studios. In reality, he was the Jason Todd version of the Red Hood, who was well-established across Batman media at that point, with a slightly different origin story. Zoe Lawton being reimagined as a character named Lawless is already a much more significant overhaul from what was seen with Jason Todd.
How many DLC characters will there be in Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League?
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League is reportedly set to receive several DLC characters, who will be staggered out for a long time to come. WB Games hopes to have the game take off as a live-service title, which could hypothetically see new characters and content added indefinitely.
According to the leaker, Lawless won’t be joining the team until Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League Season 3. As such, Zoe won’t be close to the first DLC character to be added to the game. Seasons 1 and 2 of Suicide Squad will also add new characters. Rocksteady and WB Games have not confirmed that there will be DLC characters added to the game.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will be released on February 2, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, but unlike its other versions, the game will be released on March 5, 2024, on the Epic Games Store.
Those who pre-order the game will get early access and will be able to play the game from January 30, 2024. They will also receive in-game items like Justice League skins, 3 Black Mask notorious weapons, 1 battle pass token, and weapon dolls.
