Echoes in Wuthering Waves are everywhere but players itching to get their hands on high-rarity ones will need to level up their Data Bank.
For players who have played Pokemon, the Data Bank may remind them of the Pokedex. Players “catch” the enemies and the Data Bank logs them. In Wuthering Waves though, the chances of getting high-rarity Echoes hinge on the level of the Data Bank.
That said, as the Union level and Sol-3 phase go up, so should the Data Dock Level. While straightforward, this process can be painfully time-consuming. The process centers around combing the entire map and battling Echoes of varying strengths. Here are some useful tricks to streamline the Data Bank’s grind.
What does the Data Bank do?
The Data Bank determines which Echoes players have access to, and leveling up the Data Bank offers the chance to get better Echoes. These, in turn, offer more and better stats that low-tier ones cannot provide.
Upgrading the Data Bank ramps up the odds of receiving blue, purple, and golden-rarity Echoes. At level 21, the current highest level, players can reliably expect to receive golden echoes without fail. Not only that, but paying attention to the Data Bank increases the maximum stamina needed for mobility and raises the cost limit from 10 to 12.
Furthermore, advancing through levels provides Astrites, Crystal Solvents, Tuners, Shell Credits, and more. Many of these items can then be used to raise up characters’ ascension ranks and fortes, making them even stronger.
How to level up the Data Bank in Wuthering Waves
Players must farm for Data Bank EXP, which comes from Echoes dropped by Tacet Discords. The maximum level of the Data Bank is 21.
Data Bank EXP is acquired specifically by unlocking new Echoes or absorbing ones of a higher rarity than the current type. Notably, obtaining a higher-ranked Echo automatically grants EXP from its lower tiers. For instance, acquiring a 4-star Crownless for the first time also provides Data Bank EXP for the 2-star and 3-star variations.
Here’s the amount of EXP for each Echo rank:
- 2-stars (Green): 10 EXP Points
- 3-stars (Blue): 10 EXP Points
- 4-stars (Purple): 15 EXP Points
- 5-stars (Gold): 20 EXP Points
Put simply, players have to focus on unlocking every Echo across all rarities. When starting out, it is normal to encounter low-ranked Echoes. Keep killing Tacet Discords to collect their Echoes and focus on those not yet unlocked. Once a particular Echo of a certain rarity is stored, it no longer contributes to Data Bank EXP.
No matter how the player approaches it, this is going to be a very grind-heavy task. Some in-game tools can help streamline the process to some degree, though.
Data Merge, Echo Gallery, and Milestones help level up the Data Bank in Wuthering Waves
The Echo Gallery, Data Merging, and Milestones all help when it comes to speeding up the process of leveling up the Data Bank. Once again, there’s no way to make this quick, but this makes this a bit smoother.
The Echo Gallery is a helpful tool for keeping track of opportunities to gain Data Bank EXP. Sort by EXP Collection Progress, scroll down to the bottom, and check out these Echoes. Echoes at the bottom of the list are either missing Echoes labeled “????”, or those with lower collection progress.
Highlight that particular enemy, and tap the track button to reveal its location. Alternatively, the Wuthering Waves Interactive map can be utilized to locate them. Continue and repeat this process until the highest level is reached.
Data Merge is also a viable choice, although it is much more effective when used at higher data bank levels. This feature creates Echoes by sacrificing and merging five existing ones, with the resulting Echoes’ rarity determined by the data bank level.
Data Bank EXP is also obtained through Milestones. Each level achieved grants varying amounts of Data Bank EXP, alongside rewards like Echoes, Astrites, and other materials.
Wuthering Waves players should try and level up their Data Bank to level 15 as soon as possible. With this level unlocked, the chances of receiving gold Echoes go up by 30%. By obtaining the highest rarity Echoes, players can simply farm them and build their characters in preparation for difficult and end-game content.
If players find themselves stuck at a certain level despite gaining Data Bank EXP, it’s a clear indication that they need to meet specific requirements to progress to the next level. This may entail reaching the required Sol-3 phase, raising the Union level, or breaking new Milestones.
