Get ready ZZZ fans, it’s time to build out Trigger, and we already know the best Drive Discs, W-Engines, and team compositions for the character.
Even though she’s not a stunner anymore, Soldier 0 Anby made a major impact on the Zenless Zone Zero meta. The thing is, the story mode made it quite clear that she’s meant to be paired with Trigger. While players have been able to make do with Pulchra, Trigger is still tailor-made to work with Soldier 0 Anby.
Of course, she’s limited by how many materials players invest into her. But with the right build, ZZZ players can make Trigger a powerful addition to many different teams.

Best Trigger Drive Disc build in ZZZ
Four-piece Shockstar Disco with two-piece Woodpecker Electro is the best Drive Disc build for Trigger for most players.
HoYoverse’s approach to driving players to spend their Polychromes on W-Engines has been to tailor characters’ kits around unintuitive stats. Support character Astra Yao is all about attack, anomaly character Miyabi scales on crit rate and anomaly mastery, and so on. That’s the case with Trigger, too.
Here are all the best Drive Disc combos for Trigger:
- Four-piece Shockstar Disco, two-piece Woodpecker Electro
- Four-piece Shockstar Disco, two-piece Thunder Metal
- Four-piece Shockstar Disco, two-piece Shadow Harmony
Woodpecker Electro is the best two-piece Drive Disc effect for Trigger due to her additional ability. When Trigger is paired with an attack character, she has increased daze from aftershocks based on her crit rate. As such, players will want to get as close to 90% on her crit rate stat as possible.
With that in mind, here are the main stats to target for each Drive Disc slot:
- HP
- Attack
- Defense
- Crit rate
- Electric damage
- Impact
Hitting that 90% crit rate mark is extremely difficult even when combining Trigger’s best W-Engine with an optimal Drive Disc build. Still, it’s important for building up maximum stun potential for her.
Best Trigger W-Engines
Spectral Gaze is Trigger’s best W-Engine, and there’s really no substitution for it. Signature W-Engines are typically the best, but that’s especially the case here. No stunner W-Engine offers crit rate stats, and Spectral Gaze offers a huge 24% at level 60, making it integral to any fully optimized Trigger build.
There are some other options there for Trigger, though. Here is the full list of her best W-Engines:
- Spectral Gaze
- Hellfire Gears
- The Restrained
- Six-Shooter
- Precious Fossilized Core
- Demara Battery Mark II
Hellfire Gears and The Restrained, the signature engines of Koleda and Lycaon, are the best alternatives to Spectral Gaze. Both offer high attack bonuses and effects that gel well with her overall kit.
On the A-rank front, the Six-Shooter is the best option, though it’s not alone. The Precious Fossilized Core is the best free A-rank W-Engine for Trigger in Zenless Zone Zero right now. The flat bonuses to daze and impact secondary stat makes it generally effective.
While one might think Anby’s Demara Battery Mark II W-Engine would work with a fellow electric-stun agent, that’s not the case here. Though it offers a valuable flat boost to electric damage, its effect doesn’t fit with the actual gameplay of Trigger.
Best Trigger team compositions in Zenless Zone Zero
Trigger can slot into basically any team composition with an attacker DPS. She can also fit into disorder teams alongside Yanagi or Grace, with another anomaly agent. Because her additional ability procs on having an attacker on the team, players are pushed in a very specific direction when it comes to who Trigger can work with.
There are a few decent options, though.
Trigger whale composition – Trigger, Soldier 0 Anby, Caesar/Astra Yao (Plugboo)
Trigger and Soldier 0 Anby are designed to go together, so it’s really just a matter of who is the best third agent to put with them. Caesar and Astra Yao are the two best options. Caesar offers the best shield in the game which comes with a damage buff, while Astra Yao’s manufactured chain attacks, buffs, and assists all make for a strong Soldier 0 Anby hypercarry team.
Best Trigger free-to-play team – Trigger, Nicole, Billy/Harumasa (Amillion/Plugboo)
Slotting Trigger into Anby’s spot on the Cunning Hares is a quick, easy free-to-play squad that works brilliantly. That said, if players happened to get Harumasa, players can effectively use Harumasa as an alternative to Soldier 0 Anby.
Either way, Nicole works well alongside Trigger and an attacker agent, assuming proper builds. Though she’s technically categorized as an A-rank agent, Nicole remains incredibly powerful.
