Infinity Nikki’s dress-up mechanic may differ from most other gacha games, but can players change their playable character?
Gacha games usually follow the same formula. Players start as a generic protagonist character before acquiring more characters through various means. Those characters are then used to construct personalized teams, ensuring every player can upgrade their preferred characters. However, Infinity Nikki steps away from the tried and tested formula by introducing dress-up mechanics.
This raises the question of whether players can unlock new characters in Infinity Nikki, and if not, what do players pull from banners?
Can you change your character in Infinity Nikki?
Players can not change the character they control in Infinity Nikki, but can personalize how she looks.
Whereas other popular gacha games like Genshin Impact and Wuthering Waves have players collecting and upgrading new characters, Infinity Nikki gives the same treatment to clothes. Various activities including the banners players can pull from reward players with pieces of clothing.

Nikki has her default pink-hair look at the start of the game. However, players can change Nikki’s look as they see fit. These changes don’t necessarily have to be limited to her clothes or accessories, as players can change Nikki’s hairstyle and color.
As for the many pieces of clothing players acquire, every piece is part of a set and affects Nikki’s stats in some way. Some outfits also have abilities, like the Wind of Purity outfit players acquire at the start of the game that can purify the Dark Essence and Esselings. Additionally, players can upgrade outfits in various ways. From increasing how much a piece affects Nikki’s statistics to giving outfits alternate redesigns, there’s much to personalize. Most Infinity Nikki players likely won’t feel the lack of different characters.
Does Infinity Nikki have combat?
Infinity Nikki has combat against monsters and styling challenges against other people.
Combat in Infinity Nikki mostly consists of dodging monster attacks and retaliating with long-range magical or plunge attacks. Those expecting in-depth combat mechanics like Wuthering Waves will be disappointed. Most enemies in the game can be defeated in just a couple of settings, though losing is possible. Nikki’s health is represented by five health bars and depleting them all will send players to the nearest Warp Spire.

Additionally, Infinity Nikki also has styling challenges. Players can approach some NPCs to propose a styling challenge, prompting the other person to give Nikki a theme. Players must then dress Nikki in clothes matching that theme to get a winning score.
