Developer Papergames revealed when the long-awaited Infinity Nikki is coming out, but fans want to know if the game will be available on Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles.
Infinity Nikki started making waves when it was initially revealed in May 2024 for its gorgeous visuals, unique dress-up mechanic, and expansive open world akin to Genshin Impact. However, those familiar with the game series already know what to expect from the fifth installment in the mobile gacha game series starring Nikki.
Now, Nikki and Momo, her cute mascot character, are ready for their journey to the nations of Miraland. The release trailer finally confirmed when the game will come out, though Xbox and Switch fans wonder if they’ll get to play it.
When is Infinity Nikki coming out?
Infinity Nikki is slated to come out on December 5, 2024, for iOS, Android, PlayStation 5, and PC via the Epic Games Store.
Following the steps of the other games in the series, Infinity Nikki will be free to play from the get-go. However, fans can expect various chances to spend money to acquire in-game currency and roll for characters.
Those who want to acquire free goodies while they wait for Infinity Nikki’s release have a few opportunities. The first is the pre-registration campaign which already reached its goal of 30 million registrations. Creating an account and registering for free will ensure players get the following in-game items at launch:
- Bling x50,000
- Threads of Purity x300
- Resonite Crystal x20
- The 4-star outfit Far and Away
The official Infinity Nikki website has an event until December 15, 2024. Players can participate in the event by completing tasks to acquire Whim Points and trade them for 4-star Eurekas, growth material, and bling.
Will Infinity Nikki come to Xbox and Nintendo Switch consoles?
Infinity Nikki will not be available on Xbox or Nintendo Switch at launch, but it could be ported at a later date.
The end of the release date trailer confirms PlayStation has a 6-month exclusivity deal with the game’s developer Papergames. This means Infinity Nikki cannot come out on Xbox or Nintendo Switch consoles until after June 8, 2025. PlayStation has done limited console exclusivity before, most notably with recent Final Fantasy games.
However, there’s no confirmation that Infinity Nikki will come to Xbox or Switch consoles even after the 6-month period runs out. Chinese gacha game studios typically skip Xbox and Switch releases entirely, though that may change with Genshin Impact’s Xbox release. A Switch port for Genshin Impact was once planned, so the seeds for gacha games to come to other consoles may already have been sown.
Additionally, former The Legend of Zelda director Kentaro Tominaga is part of the development team for Infinity Nikki as executive producer. Tominaga was the game designer for Breath of The Wild and worked for Nintendo since the early 2000s. While unconfirmed, his involvement may make a future Nintendo Switch release more likely.
