Every way to get & use Broly’s Ring in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero

One of the many returning items in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is Broly’s Ring, but players get it and use it in a way that’s different from how they might remember.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is a love letter to the series and its fans. It’s not just the massive roster and sprawling story mode with both canon and alternate scenarios. From individual items to using Zeni as the primary currency, no opportunity to immerse players in the universe is overlooked. That includes drawing from anime, movies, manga, and even past games.

One of the mechanics Sparking Zero retains from older games is the option to customize characters using item capsules. Broly’s Ring is one of the many items players can equip, although it’s also one of the rarest; here’s how to get and use it.

How can you get Broly’s Ring in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero?

The only reliable way to get Broly’s Ring in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is by wishing for it by collecting the seven Dragon Balls.

Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero has three sets of Dragon Balls players can collect. However, not every wish-granting dragon can give players everything. Players must collect the Namekian or Super Dragon Balls and then wish for “I want ability items” to get Broly’s Ring. Here, players can choose Broly’s Ring.

Broly’s Ring seems to be the only item exclusively acquired through wishing. Every other ability item can be acquired through other means, making this the rarest ability item in the game.

The best way to get Broly’s Ring is by collecting the Namekian Dragon Balls. Players can get the ring and other in-game goodies, since Porunga can grant three wishes instead of the usual one. After all, it’s better to use the Super Dragon Balls to unlock Black Goku or acquire 1 million Zeni.

What does Broly’s Ring do in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero?

Equipping Broly’s Ring prevents both players from fusing or transforming during the battle.

The ability item was in Budokai Tenkaichi 3 too, but its use was slightly different. Instead of locking out both players, the character who had the item equipped was prevented from transforming. It was an unnecessary handicap that players put on themselves, and most players just got it to complete their collection.

Sparking Zero’s version is different, as it ensures neither player can transform or fuse while in a battle. While this doesn’t have too many uses as most players typically select versions of the characters that are already transformed or fused, it may be good for ranked battles. Ranked mode in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero gives both players 15 Destruction Points to make their teams, which is why some players go for base versions of strong characters. Equipping Broly’s Ring can lock those characters in their base forms.

To equip Broly’s Ring players can go to the shop’s customize screen in the main menu before selecting the character. Finally, interact with a vacant ability item slot and equip the item.

Though it’s still only a situational option that not all players will want, the item is still potentially transformative for online play.
