Some fans think Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero is harder than previous entries in the Budokai Tenkaichi series, but Dragon Orbs can make things much easier.
Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero accurately recreates iconic scenes from the Dragon Ball anime and manga. While players can breeze through most battles by spamming strong moves or staying on the offensive with combos, some battles have left players stumped. The earliest example of this is the Great Ape Vegeta fight, which has left players frustrated and searching for cheese methods for the fight.
Fortunately, the game provides a way to make at least episode battles easier to complete. Players who play through the episode battles can see the orb’s icon on the top right of the screen. However, while the game doesn’t explicitly explain what these orbs do, they’re a great asset for players struggling with the main story. Here’s how to get Dragon Orbs in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero and what they do.
How to get Dragon Orbs in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero
Players can get Dragon Orbs in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero by summoning Shenron and wishing to make episode battles easier.
There are three dragons players can summon to grant wishes. However, base Shenron is the only one who can give players more orbs. To acquire Dragon Orbs, players must first collect all seven base Dragon Balls and lose an Episode Battle before summoning Shenron. From the wish menu, go to the second tab and select the “I want to complete an Episode Battle” option to get an orb.
When going to an Episode Battle with a hidden secondary requirement, players will see the Dragon Orb icon pop up in the top right corner of the screen. This indicates that the player can use an orb for that battle. However, they cannot be used for every single story battle.
What do Dragon Orbs do in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero?
Dragon Orbs make completing episode battles easier by giving players more control over which route battles end on.
Some battles in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero have multiple paths. The first is the canon path that players can reach by doing what the player character canonically did. The second path, on the other hand, is an all-new alternate route unique to Sparking Zero. However, seeing the alternate path requires players to discover and complete certain secondary requirements.
Some episode battles have steep secondary requirements, which is where Dragon Orbs come in. Using a Dragon Orb makes it easier to complete the secondary conditions of episode battles, making it easier to see the alternate “What If” route. The reduced difficulty means players can also get the canon ending if they want.
Players can reduce difficulties regardless in episode battles but lowering the difficulty locks them out from the alternate paths, even if they meet the requirements. Therefore, Dragon Orbs are the ideal way to clear difficult episode battles in Dragon Ball: Sparking Zero. However, collecting the Dragon Balls takes a while, so players will want to save their orbs for difficult episode battles.
