Disney has partnered with Epic Games to air an exclusive Disney Horizons Live presentation inside Fortnite to coincide with this year’s D23 event.
D23 is scheduled to take place from August 9 to August 11 and is expected to feature announcements related to upcoming Disney products. Fortnite data miners have indicated Disney’s video games will receive particular focus. At the very least, fans can expect to see some reveals related to Disney and Epic Games’ partnership.
Earlier this year, Disney invested $1.5 billion into Epic Games as part of a multi-year deal. While Disney-owned characters, such as Marvel superheroes, had already appeared in Fortnite as skins, this deal suggests the two companies have even bigger plans for the game.
This isn’t the first time Disney has run an event exclusive to Fortnite. In preparation for the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, a preview of the film aired in Fortnite and included a message from Emperor Palpatine, which is referenced in the film’s opening crawl.
How to watch Disney Horizons Live in Fortnite during D23
Disney Horizons Live will be available to watch via an exclusive Fortnite island.
Fortnite players can join the Disney Horizons Live island from the Home bar in Discover or by using the island code 7908-6413-2516. It will be accessible starting August 10 at 7:30 pm PT, 10:30pm ET, though the livestream itself won’t start until 8:30 pm PT, 11:30pm ET. The island will remain available until August 16 and keep the presentation playing on loop for anyone who misses it live.
As an added incentive, players who visit the island for at least 10 minutes will earn some XP, as well as a Peelverine Plush back bling on August 16. According to the Fortnite website, this back bling may become available for purchase in the Fortnite item store at a later date.
What will be shown during Disney Horizons Live
It’s unknown what video game content will be shown during D23, but there are major upcoming games including Marvel’s Wolverine, Star Wars Outlaws, and Epic Mickey: Rebrushed.
Neither Disney nor Epic Games have even hinted at what can be expected from Disney Horizons Live. Presumably, it will focus primarily on new details related to Fortnite, though some new skins are a safe bet. Although Disney has other video games coming out that could warrant an update, there’s nothing to suggest any of them will be featured in this D23 livestream. There’s also been no mention of a separate presentation dedicated to video games, like the one from 2022.
Hopefully, D23 in general will at least host a few trailers related to Disney’s other gaming offerings. This year alone will see the launches of Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Epic Mickey: Rebrushed, and Star Wars Outlaws, with the latter arriving on August 30.
