Silent Hill 2’s release date is just around the corner, but some players will be able to download the game early; here’s how to get access.
Remaking the classic original game, producer Konami and developer Bloober Team have a big release on their hands. The companies promised a number of updates while maintaining the classic look and feel of the game. It was officially announced back in 2022, and after the long wait, it may be about to get shorter for some.
Konami’s return to game development has been a mixed bag thus far. The Silent Hill 2 remake is its biggest project to date, with Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater still on the horizon. Ahead of the official October 8 release date, here’s how fans can get early access.
How to play the Silent Hill 2 early
Fans can start playing the Silent Hill 2 remake two days early by purchasing the digital deluxe edition. This gives players access to the game on October 6.
The deluxe version retails for $79.99 and offers a pre-load on October 4, with a release on October 6. This premium version of the game contains some extra value-adds, including:
- Robbie the Rabbit Mask
- Mira the Dog Mask
- Pyramid Head Mask
- Digital artbook
- Digital soundtrack
While the game is a PlayStation console exclusive, it is also coming out on PC at the same time. The PC digital deluxe edition also offers early access.
Unlike newer games, it’s also available as a physical copy. Notably, the Silent Hill 2 Deluxe Edition will not be available on consoles. That said, disks are making the round and are giving some players a sneak peek.
Some lucky fans are getting physical copies early
Fans have been making posts across social media about receiving Silent Hill 2 in the mail.
United Kingdom-based Silent Hill fans have taken to social media and discussed receiving their physical copy of the game through the major retailer GAME. While it’s unclear if other stores are sending out Silent Hill 2 early, it seems to be exclusive to GAME so far. Leaks have been rare online, meaning that fans haven’t been posting them or Konami and Team Bloober have been quick at taking them down.
The good news for fans is that those who have gotten the game early have given it positive reviews.
That said, the only reliable way to play the Silent Hill 2 remake before its full release date is through the digital deluxe edition.
