May 2024 State of Play date & time revealed, here’s what’s coming

sony playstation state of play coming soon

The date and time for May 2024’s PlayStation State of Play event have finally been revealed after prolonged speculation and uncertainty.

PlayStation’s State of Play is usually held when Sony is ready to announce or give updates on games. Previous State of Play events showed off Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth gameplay, trailers for Dave the Diver, Death Stranding 2: On The Beach, and Dragon’s Dogma 2. While PlayStation has announced when fans can expect the new broadcast, details about which games will be shown are still unknown.

PlayStation fans are anticipating the next crop of major exclusives for the PlayStation 5 and updates on big multi-platform releases. It’s been a while since many first-party studios made an appearance, and expectations are running high among fans. Hopes and dreams are abound for everything from Hollow Knight: Silksong to a sequel for Stellar Blade, but that’s to be seen when State of Play airs.

Date and time for May 2024 State of Play confirmed

The next State of Play is happening on May 30 at 3 pm PT, 6 pm ET, or 11 pm BST.

PlayStation confirmed a run time of 30 minutes for the show. Fans expecting extended gameplay footage of Marvel’s Wolverine should temper their expectations. In all likelihood, this State of Play will be filled with already announced projects, teasers for upcoming games, and release date announcements.

Konami plans to follow the State of Play with its own livestream called the Silent Hill Transmission. That broadcast promises new details on upcoming Silent Hill games and the feature film, Return to Silent Hill. It’s likely that the release date for the Silent Hill 2 remake will finally be revealed at one of these events after a prolonged wait and various controversies.

What will be in the State of Play?

Sony promises 14 games during the 30-minute State of Play broadcast which will include deals on game lineup for PlayStation 5 and PSVR2.

PlayStation Studios have already announced several projects which include Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games, an MMO based on Horizon game from Guerrilla Games, and Firewalk Studios’ Concord. There is no word on what Sony’s Bend Studio is working on so fans could see a teaser of Days Gone’s developer as well.

Updates on Death Stranding 2: On the Beach or various Horizon projects including the MMO, TV Show, and leaked Lego spin-off are possible. Possible third-party announcements could include Hoyoverse’s Zenless Zone Zeroes. Other games that could be highlighted include Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, Assassin’s Creed Shadows, and Metaphor: ReFantazio.
