Fans who were looking forward to the upcoming reboot of Fable might want to kick back and relax, because a new report says its release date isn’t coming soon.
Fable has long been Xbox’s premier RPG franchise, even though the company has looked to spread its wings with games like Avowed. It’s known for its punchy dialog and whimsical British humor, making it a fan favorite even after a long lull for the series. The last proper installment in the series, Fable 3, was released in 2010. Everything since has been unpopular spin-offs and a lone HD remaster.
The new Fable developer, Playground Games, is a British studio famous for the Forza Horizon series. The studio is known for making beautiful, open-world racing games for Xbox and is now helming the new Fable. Fans of RPGs are eagerly awaiting the next Fable game. However, if the reports are correct, they’ll have to wait a long while.
Fable release date info
Fable is reportedly set to be released release in Q4 2025.
Tom Warren of The Verge has been regularly breaking news on Microsoft-owned franchises of late, including Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and Gears of War. He’s now reporting on Fable, which he says is positioned for a late-2025 release, if all goes to plan.
While diehard Xbox fans have long repeated that “next year will be the year” when the company delivers actual high-quality exclusives, it might actually be true this time. Alongside exclusives are big hitters like Grand Theft Auto 6.
While Microsoft has been releasing Fable spin-offs like Fable Heroes, a beat-em-up game, it has been a while since there has been a mainline Fable game. Given the impressive, punchy trailers, the company seems ready to deliver in its revival of Fable.
Gears of War: E-Day reportedly set to come out in 2025
Gears of War: E-Day is also reportedly targeted for 2025.
This also comes from Warren, who added that the next Gears of War could actually have its release date arrive before Fable. The Coalition, the studio behind Gears of War 4, Gears 5, and now E-Day, is historically quick to release games after their reveal. Gears of War 4 and 5 were released around a year after their initial announcement.
The developers aim to bring back the “scary” aspects of the franchise. The new game takes place on Emergence Day of the Locust horde. The creative director, Matt Searcy, expressed that the team wants to “tell a very intimate story about what happened” during the E-Day. Microsoft hasn’t revealed solid release dates or windows for Fable or Gears of War: E-Day.
