Splatoon 3: Final Splatfest release date confirmed with new Amiibo

Splatoon 3 final Splatfest

Splatoon 3 will release one final Splatfest and a new Amiibo before Nintendo moves to the fourth installment, likely for the Switch 2.

Splatoon has been a staple of competitive gaming on Nintendo’s kid-friendly platform. While plenty of mature-rated games are on the console, most tend to be on the PG side. Splatoon 3 has received a ton of support from the developers, but they are getting ready for one final Splatfest to send off the game.

Splatfests in Splatoon 3 are grand events that introduce new game modes and change the in-game locations significantly. The final Splatfest will also follow the tradition of introducing significant changes to the game. Here’s what to expect.

Release date for Final Splatfest in Splatoon 3

The final Splatfest is announced for September 13-16, 2024, and features the tagline “What is important? Past vs Present vs Future.”

Splatoon 3’s Splatfests feature three teams, while previous games only supported two. The Final Splatfest will have a team for the Past, Present, and Future. The event will feature a new hub and new textures for the players and NPCs. The update will also involve all of Splatoon’s idol groups in the game.

Previously, all Final Splatfests impacted the next game in the series. In the first game, Callie lost and subsequently got kidnapped in Splatoon 2. Chaos won the final Splatfest in 2, and Chaos went on to be a central figure in Splatoon 3. Whichever idol wins in the final Splatfest in Splatoon 3 will likely shape the fourth installment. It remains to be seen whether the new game launches with Switch 2 or not, but with the reported timing of the Switch 2’s launch, a launch on next-gen hardware is more likely than not.

Splatoon 3 new Amiibo announced

The new Splatoon 3 Amiibo was also announced and will be released in Japan on September 5, 2024.

The new Splatoon Amiibo features the idol group “Squid Sisters,” which includes Callie and Marie. The “Off the Hook” idol group, featuring Marina and Pearl, is also included. All Amiibo are available on the My Nintendo Store in Japan, and will likely see a Western release at some point. Nintendo hasn’t announced the release dates and prices for other regions yet.

This batch of Amiibo ties in nicely with the final Splatfest. The Japanese My Nintendo Store also has merchandise related to the event, which includes T-shirts and wristbands.
