Yixuan is coming to ZZZ in the 2.0 update but those looking to pre-farm materials for her are going to have more than a little bit of trouble doing so.
Zenless Zone Zero Season 2 is set to be a big one, as one would expect. Loads of new features have already been leaked from beta testers, ranging from an overhauled UI to quality-of-life improvements. But of course, Zenless Zone Zero fans are always most focused on the new characters.
Three new characters have been confirmed for ZZZ version 2.0, with Yixuan set to arrive in the first phase. So how can you prepare for her, and what will you have to wait for? Here’s the full breakdown.

Players are only able to pre-farm general and agent skill materials ahead of Xiyuan’s release. An unfortunate reality for many new ZZZ agents is that skill core skill materials often need to be farmed after an agent’s release, as the character doesn’t launch until after a new boss is introduced through the game’s story.
Xiyuan takes this a step further as her promotion materials are also set to be new additions to the game. Here’s a full breakdown of what you can and can’t get for her.
Yixuan promotion materials
Yixuan is set to use a new type of promotion material that will be introduced as part of ZZZ version 2.0. The new “void hunter-rank” agent doesn’t fit into the established specialties of attacker, anomaly, defense or support. She’s instead set to be a brand-new specialty, with a brand-new accompanying promotion material. This will likely make it awkward to fit her into existing team compositions. Regardless, ZZZ players won’t be able to pre-farm these until after Yixuan is released.
Yixuan core skill boss materials
Players won’t be able to pre-farm boss materials for Yixuan. Fans have seen this with Trigger and Soldier 0 Anby. A new set of bosses will come out with Zenless Zone Zero patch 2.0 that will be added to the Notorious Hunt and Expert Challenge portfolios. Players will need to farm these new bosses in order to raise up Yixuan.
Unfortunately, this is yet another thing that players will have to wait for. Thankfully, there are some things that players can get in anticipation of Yixuan’s release.
Yixuan skill materials
Yixuan is a new variant of ether agent and player will be able to pre-farm her upgrade materials based on this. Here’s the breakdown of what you need to raise her skills to the maximum:
- Level 2: 2 Basic Ether Chips, 2,000 Dennies
- Level 3: 3 Basic Ether Chips, 3,000 Dennies
- Level 4: 2 Advanced Ether Chips and 6,000 Dennies
- Level 5: 3 Advanced Ether Chips and 9,000 Dennies
- Level 6: 4 Advanced Ether Chips and 12,000 Dennies
- Level 7: 6 Advanced Ether Chips and 18,000 Dennies
- Level 8: 5 Specialized Ether Chips and 45,000 Dennies
- Level 9: 8 Specialized Ether Chips and 67,500 Dennies
- Level 10: 10 Specialized Ether Chips and 90,000 Dennies
- Level 11: 12 Specialized Ether Chips and 112,500 Dennies
- Level 12: 15 Specialized Ether Chips, 1 Hamster Cage Pass, and 135,000 Dennies
Yixuan’s drip marketing included four new symbols that players were unfamiliar with. This had some worried that the new character would have both a new specialty and a new attribute, but this isn’t the case.
Instead, Yixuan is an ether agent with a twist, similar to how Miyabi is an ice agent with a twist. Technically speaking, they are their own distinct agent type, but they still conform to established norms when it comes to skill materials, weaknesses, and resistances. This means players can use the same items to upgrade Yixuan that they do with ether anomaly agent Vivian or Nicole
This is good news for players as Ether Chips are the one upgrade material that players can pre-farm for Yixuan before the release of ZZZ 2.0. But of course, players can also use this time to scoop up Investigator Tapes, W-Engine Batteries, and stacks of Dennies.
