Gun smoke in Warzone became problematic a few seasons ago, but players report Season 6 has amplified the problem.
Call of Duty: Warzone has seen several exploits regarding visibility. While others were mostly associated with skins that blend into the background, the gun smoke problem makes it hard for the player to see anything.
The developers have tried to improve the experience before, but the new Season 6 changes are not enough. Despite Activision’s crackdown on Call of Duty cheaters and cheat makers, the experience is still not rock solid. Despite bringing several changes, Season 6 hasn’t received a lot of positivity from the player base.
Is Warzone gun smoke a problem?
According to several players, Warzone gun smoke makes it hard to see what’s happening on the screen and obscures targets during gunfights.
The thicker and more voluminous gun smoke makes it extremely hard for players to see their surroundings. The issue affects PC players more as the platform lacks the “sticky” controller aim assist. The aim assist on consoles works even if the screen is filled with gun smoke, leading to a much easier shooting experience.
Season 5 was well received but not all is bad in the Season 6 update. Purgatory mode is seeing good success with the player base. Players appreciate the fun, no-pressure mode, which lets them do whatever they want in a sandbox.
Is there any way to fix gun smoke visibility in Warzone?
There is not yet any way to fix reduced visibility from gun smoke in Warzone.
So far, Sledgehammer Games has been silent on the issue and has not confirmed the Warzone gun smoke issue.
Thankfully, the issue is not as pronounced as a few seasons ago. The limited light in the Warzone gun range is to blame here. Gunsmoke in Warzone is not pronounced outdoors or in well-lit areas. A quick light fix could tone down the thick gun smoke in Warzone. However, players are left wondering why Sledgehammer Games increased the smoke in the first place.
The issue gets problematic indoors in areas with limited lighting. The Gulag area is infamous for the gun smoke as it is not a highly lit area. Coincidentally, the paid gun tracer blueprints often remove gun smoke altogether, making the gameplay much easier.
