Nintendo has announced their the date and time of its new August Nintendo Direct, this time with an additional showcase planned.
Notably, fans can expect to see an Indie World Showcase followed by a Partner Showcase that could feature games from developers ranging from Disney to ConcernedApe. Nintendo usually releases one showcase at a time, and these are also hot on the heels of August 18’s Museum Direct. Some speculate that the Partner and Indie World showcases could indicate that Nintendo is trying to clear out a backlog of content before the Nintendo Switch 2 is released.
Here’s when fans can watch, as well as what games the showcases is likely to include.
Nintendo Direct may include Epic Mickey, Ace Attorney
The exact game lineup hasn’t been released for the August Nintendo Direct, but Nintendo is likely to feature games Ace Attorney, Epic Mickey, and other games releasing in 2024.
With a packed schedule through the end of November, Nintendo has several collaborations with partners and indie publishers that could make it into either of the two showcases. Games coming out in 2024 on the Switch include:
- August 29: Emio – The Smiling Man
- September 6: Ace Attorney: Investigations Collections
- September 24: Epic Mickey Rebrushed
- October 22: Sonic x Shadow Generations
- November 7: Mario & Luigi: Brothership
- November 14: Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D
Nintendo has explicitly clarified that the Nintendo Switch 2 will not be mentioned during the August Nintendo Direct. Any new game announcements will then be a welcome surprise.
When will the August Nintendo Direct air?
Nintendo is airing the Indie World and Partner Showcases through Nintendo Direct on Tuesday, August 27 at 7 am PST, 10 AM PST.
The official Nintendo Twitter account announced that the two showcases together will run 40 minutes total on its YouTube channel. Likely, this will take the place of a possible September showcase and be the last big content release of 2024.
Many fans hope that next year’s February Nintendo Direct will finally mention games made for and news about the Nintendo Switch. For this year, at least, they should clear their schedule for Tuesday morning to watch the show.
