Is Persona really coming to Fortnite? Here’s what we know

persona 3 reload fortnite

The Persona JRPG series might join a dozen other franchises as skins released in Fortnite Season 5.

The Persona series has been a huge success for Atlus. The most recent entry, Persona 3 Reload, sold over 1 million copies in less than a week and received strongly positive reviews. It also has a proper DLC expansion incoming, implying Atlus’ confidence in the title.

Meanwhile, Fortnite’s Season 5 Chapter 2 plans to add the usual roundup of new mechanics, weapons, and guest characters. Epic Games has become more aggressive with the lattermost category of late, and it’s reached the point that no franchise would be a surprising addition to the game. Persona’s recent success could mean its characters will soon ride the Battle Bus.

Will Persona come to Fortnite?

Epic Games nor Atlus has confirmed Persona is coming to Fortnite, but data miners and leakers suggest that characters from the franchise are coming to the game. iFireMonkey, a notable Fortnite leaker who reported Solid Snake’s arrival before the official announcement, made several claims about what’s next for Fortnite.

iFireMonkey specifically points out a potential Persona collab. Whether the collaboration will include fully playable characters is up in the air. Further strengthening iFireMonkey’s claim is the corroboration of Midori, a notable Sega insider who accurately reported several Persona games months before their official announcement.

While the collaboration might sound odd, it tracks with previous plans discussed by executives from Atlus parent company, Sega. In an interview with CNBC, Sega COO Shuji Utsumi discussed having the Like a Dragon and Persona series gain more visibility in western markets through collaborations with prominent live games.

Will Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 feature more guest characters?

Epic Games has not announced the guest characters for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2, but Aang of Avatar: The Last Airbender, characters from Final Fantasy 7, and the return of God of War’s Kratos are reportedly on the docket.

Several figures have discussed characters that will arrive in the game. iFireMonkey claims Aang from Avatar: The Last Airbender will appear mid-season. Fittingly for the Greek theme, Kratos may also get a new skin reflecting his younger Spartan self. Nick Baker of the XboxEra podcast claims Final Fantasy 7 and One Piece may also come to Fortnite this season, which would add an extra layer of JRPG alongside Persona.

The crossover character model extends far past Fortnite in the modern gaming industry. Call of Duty, Mortal Kombat 1, and Apex Legends had crossovers with other successful franchises. While Fortnite might win in terms of volume, it won’t stop other games from having surprises of their own in the coming months.
