Release date info on the Persona 4 remake may have leaked alongside info on who’ll co-develop it, and fans are reportedly in for a long wait before its release date.
Persona 5 might have put the series on the map for many, but it has been around since the first Persona game came out in 1996. While Atlus likes to pretend Persona 1 and 2 don’t exist, that’s reportedly set to change. Unfortunately, that renewed interest in the series’ history is said to come at the expense of the Persona 4 remake.
Atlus is remake-happy right now, thanks to the success of Persona 3 Reload. Remakes and remastered games continue to garner success, as proven by the Resident Evil series, and Sega and Atlus seem to want to hop on the bandwagon. After Persona 3 Reload, leaks suggest Atlus wants to remake Persona 4 next, and the release window may have leaked.
Persona 4 remake release date info leaked
The Persona 4 remake reportedly has a 2028 release window.
This information comes from three separate X users, including the user slimeseo. According to them, the unannounced Atlus game codenamed XRD792 is the much-awaited remake of Persona 4. However, the long wait time is because Atlus is prioritizing other Persona entries. As for the developers, in addition to Atlus, the user states TOSE is co-developing the Persona 4 remake. TOSE worked on the Nintendo Switch port of The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild, Scarlet Nexus, and more.
A Persona 4 remake was previously discussed by Midori. The former leaker’s proven track record of leaking Persona-related things includes major components of Persona 5 Tactica’s DLC and announcing Persona 3 Reload before the official reveal.
Midori, now using a different handle, also chimed in to state the 2028 release window for the Persona 4 remake was correct. The 2028 release window also aligns with previous claims the former Midori made before their false identity was revealed.
Atlus reportedly working on a Persona spin-off series
According to X user p0wyful, who’s known for covering Persona-related content, Atlus is also working on a Persona spin-off.
It’s unknown what the Persona spin-off will cover. The Persona series already has multiple spin-off entries, ranging from Persona Q to Persona 4 Arena to Persona 5 Tactica. The alleged upcoming game may either have the same gameplay as the base Persona games or something unique like most other spin-off games.
In addition to the upcoming spin-off game, Atlus is also apparently working on the Persona 1 and 2 releases. According to the user, Persona 1 is getting a remake while the Persona 2 duology will get modern-day remasters.
