Are Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica remakes coming?
Resident Evil 0 and Code: Veronica remakes are reportedly coming while remakes of RE 1 and 5 are not.
Resident Evil 0 is a 2002 game released on Nintendo GameCube that eventually made its way to PlayStation and Xbox consoles. It is a prequel to Resident Evil 1 and features side-character Rebecca Chambers and the newly introduced Billy Coen. The game took a different approach to the Resident Evil formula by having two simultaneously playable characters controlled by one player.
The original game received solid reviews at the time, but shows its age today. A proper Resident Evil 0 remake would be a great way to modernize it for a new audience and potentially introduce the co-op gameplay the title danced around at the time. If Capcom applies the same quality as the Resident Evil 4 remake, fans would welcome any game from the Resident Evil catalog.
Resident Evil Code: Veronica was originally a Sega Dreamcast exclusive that garnered extremely high praise upon release. The story in Code Veronica takes place three months after the events of Resident Evil 2 and marked the introduction of campy characters to the series. It also cemented twist villain Albert Wesker as Resident Evil’s big bad.
The game was generally forgotten about and hasn’t received the numerous remasters and re-releases that Resident Evil 1 and 0 have. The game remains a fan favorite and fans were calling for a Resident Evil Code: Veronica remake before there was any serious word of it happening.

A reveal by a fan group was followed by others who discussed features like unique zombies that move at a slower pace and the return of Crimson Head zombies that first appeared in GameCube remake of the game. Rumors about the graphics being pushed further than ever before were also circulated.
Resident Evil 5 was less popular when it came to discussions of a remake but Capcom seemingly planted the seeds for it. According to Dusk Golem though, it’s not “actively in dev now either.”
Capcom has yet to confirm any of the Resident Evil remakes. The only upcoming game that is confirmed to be in development is Resident Evil 9. Fans are anticipating some announcements during the summer events.
