Not everyone can be lucky in ZZZ, but the great equalizer is the account reroll; here’s how it works and whether it’s worth the time and effort.
It takes a certain amount of luck to get an S-rank character in Zenless Zone Zero, especially on the first try. With the odds of getting S-rank agents sitting at less than 1%, players are more likely to end up with blue and purple pulls instead of their favorites. ZZZ’s gacha system can be downright cruel, and unless players are ready to shell out some cash, their dream characters could remain out of reach for months or even years.
Because of this, many players opt to toss their accounts away and hop into another with high hopes of getting better pulls the second time around. Or the third time around. Right at the start of the game, everyone’s given a number of pulls to test their luck. If they’re not happy with the results, they can simply reroll accounts. Here’s how to do it.
How to reroll in Zenless Zone Zero
ZZZ unintentionally allows players to reroll by creating a fresh account and grinding through the early portions of the game. While it sounds easy, the process can be brutal.
HoYoverse certainly doesn’t make it easy for players to reroll accounts. The game does not offer guest accounts that can be deleted at any time. The only choice left for players is to create new email accounts to sign up with, or to sign in via social media accounts that aren’t linked to Zenless Zone Zero. This allows players to quickly create a bunch of accounts.
From there, progress through the tutorial and prologue to unlock Signal Search, the game’s gacha system. This usually eats up around 20-30 minutes of their time, depending on how quick the players are at skipping dialogues. After that, around 20 to 30 Master Tapes will be waiting in the mailbox. Keep in mind, these can only be used on the standard banner, named the Stable Channel in ZZZ, not the limited ones, so reroll options are a bit limited.
Much like other HoYoverse titles like Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail, Zenless Zone Zero doesn’t offer a particularly generous newbie banner. The Standard Channel, includes a one-time early pity for newcomers. This means that within 50 pulls, players are guaranteed to get an S-rank agent. But thanks to the 20% discount on pulls, getting a 5-star character will take at most 40 Master Tapes.
Now if they want to get more pulls, or hunt for some Encrypted Master Tapes that they can use on the limited-banner, the time needed for this process may go up to 45 minutes to more than an hour. More premium currencies will be rewarded as players go through quests and events and by redeeming ZZZ codes.
After making their first set of pulls, they can simply evaluate whether they need to reroll or not.
Should you reroll in ZZZ?
Rerolling in Zenless Zone Zero is a matter of player preference and whether they have the time to do so.
By rerolling accounts, players can get a decent headstart in ZZZ and make the game much more exciting to play, compared to sticking with A-rank agents, or even S-rank agents they don’t like. Then again, rerolling isn’t for everyone as Hoyoverse games are notorious for not being reroll-friendly.
It takes more than an hour to reroll, and there’s no guarantee that the next account will be any better. With how difficult rerolling is, it can take days to get an optimal start to the game. Moreover, rerolling is also not recommended for players who want to use the same account across all Hoyoverse titles.
It’s worth mentioning that ZZZ players can put together a strong roster from the starting banner, and any S-rank agent players from the banner can get the job done in early content. An agent like Grace or Nekomata with the right build can do very strong work for players.
